“Election 2008: How Will it Impact the U.S. - Israel Relationship?” featuring AIPAC Pacific Northwest Regional Director Zack Bodner will be held at 7 p.m., Oct. 6 at Temple Beth Israel’s Pollin Chapel , 1972 NW Flanders St.

On Jan. 20, 2009, a new President will be sworn into office. More than 50 new members of Congress will have taken their oath of office. The 2008 elections will redefine the people who shape America’s foreign policy in the Middle East, according to a press release from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the only American organization whose sole mission is to lobby Congress about legislation that strengthens the relationship between the United States and Israel.

While the election will bring a major sea change to Washington, one thing must remain constant: Bi-partisan support for the Jewish state must be at the cornerstone of the U.S.-Israel alliance, according to AIPAC.

As AIPAC’s Pacific Northwest Regional Director, Bodner works with the communities in Northern California, Washington, Oregon, Northern Nevada and Alaska, organizing the political and grassroots efforts of pro-Israel activists. He has a master’s degree in philosophy of religion and t6heology, with a focus on Zionist thought and Jewish history, from Claremont Graduate University. He received his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and has spent time studying at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Prior to joining AIPAC, Bodner worked as a legislative assistant in the California State Legislature.
