Charlotte Salomon was born in Berlin in 1917 and grew up in an assimilated Jewish family. Salomon escaped to the South of France in 1939 to join her grandparents, and the SS arrested her there in 1943 and deported her to Auschwitz, where she was killed. Before her capture, Salomon gave her complete portfolio of gouaches and drawings to a friend. This exhibit features 22 museum-quality reproductions on loan from the Goethe Institute in Los Angeles. Presented in conjunction with the German American Society. Exhibit runs Oct. 2-Jan. 4.
