Gottfried names to Human Rights Commission

Emily Gottfried was one of 15 members Mayor Tom Potter and City Council appointed to Portland’s new Human Rights Commission.
Potter also named 11 members to the commission’s Honorary Advisory Board.

Gottfried is the director of the Oregon Area Jewish Committee.

Following two years of community engagement and development, the Human Rights Commission and the Office of Human Relations were established by ordinance in March. Both entities will work to eliminate discrimination and bigotry, strengthen intergroup relationships and foster greater understanding, inclusion, and justice for those who live, work, study, worship, travel and play in the city of Portland.
