Profile Theatre opens “The Sunshine Boys” May 16 at Theatre! Theater!, the last of its full season of Neil Simon plays.

This comedic tribute to vaudeville revolves around the legendary act known as Lewis and Clark.

Having not spoken to one another for 11 years—since Al Lewis walked out on Willie Clark after a successful 43 year career—the two have now being asked to reunite to perform their most famous sketch for a TV special on the history of comedy.

The big question is will the two get their act together long enough to pull it off, without killing one another first?

Thomas Bray directs Michael Berkson as Lewis and Richard Mathews as Clark. Other players include Kelly Godell, LaVerne Green, Stephen Guntli, Jason Maniccia and Jonah Weston.

Commenting on Simon’s script Bray said, “…Mr. Simon has written us a play that provides us with a glimpse of what happened to these performers after their time in the spotlight was over…The play is also about the loss of control one feels as age takes over…It is about partnership: the love-hate relationship we can have when we tie ourselves to another human being. And finally, it’s about laughter.”

Regular performances are on Thursday, Friday and Saturday’s at 8 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Sundays.

A “Mat-Chat” is scheduled following the Sunday, May 17, matinee.  Theater goers are invited and encouraged to stay and participate in discussions with the director and members of the cast.

Regular performance tickets are priced from $22 to $28. Student discounts are available.
