Jewish women poets sought

Jewish women poets may submit up to three poems for possible inclusion in an anthology planned by Paula Friedman.
Friedman is a poet and the former director of the Anna Davidson Rosenberg Award for Poems on the Jewish Experience.
Friedman, who lives near Mount Hood, will co-edit the planned volume with Portland poet and writer Judith Arcana, Seattle poets Diane Brement and Linda Clifton, and Kentfield, Calif., poet Margaret Kaufman.
Poets whose work is selected for the anthology will be published alongside invited poets including, besides the volume’s editors, Portland-area poets Willa Schneberg and Lois Rosen, among others.
Friedman said that any “self-defined” Jewish woman living in California, Oregon, Washington or Alaska is welcome to submit up to three poems totaling no more than eight standard pages.
To ensure impartiality in the selection process, submission guidelines require that author names not appear on the same pages as the poems.
Two copies of each manuscript must be submitted. Each manuscript must be stapled together, and two cover sheets attached to each set: one cover sheet with the titles of the poems, author name and contact information, and the other with only the poem titles.
Submissions should be sent by first-class or priority mail by June 28. No e-mail submissions or delievery methods requiring the recipient’s signature are permitted.
Mail submissions to Paula Friedman, 5830 Billings Rd., Parkdale, OR 97041. Include a first-class-stamped No. 10 envelope if you want notification.
Notification will probably occur in September or October.
